The Supreme Court recently ruled that a woman can refuse to make a wedding website for a gay wedding, if the event goes against her “deeply-felt religious convictions.” However, the litigant has never actually made a website for any wedding, and the man who is said to have requested the litigant’s services is apparently married to a woman, and denies ever having made the request. He also says that no one contacted him to check if he had made the request. For rushing to protect a person’s “deeply-held religious beliefs”” without checking the facts of the case, and for rushing to protect prejudice when it is wrapped in quotes from a religious book, the justices who voted to protect the “deeply-held religious beliefs” of 303 Creative get a Twit Award. The Advocate has this story.
