Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip

Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip, the transgender woman who co-owns the Miss Universe pageant, said in a recording that “women from nontraditional backgrounds” can compete but “cannot win” the title fo Miss Universe. LGBTQ Nation has this story.

We told you about a ballot initiative in California which would require teachers to notify parents if their child changes name or pronoun gender at school. This week, that initiative failed to gather enough signatures to qualify for the November ballot. The Los Angeles Times reports that the group behind this will try for the 2026 ballot.

The Supreme Court turned down a request by Maryland parents to review an appeals court decision in favor of transgender rights. The court ruled the school district may prevent schools from notifying parents that their child has changed gender pronouns or name at school. The family of LaDamonyon DeeDee Hall have filed suit against the Dallas Police Department and the paramedics who took her to Baylor Hospital. She died two years ago, while in police custody. This story is from Dallas Voice.

The body of Darri Moore was found along the Mississippi River in St. Louis. Friends are suspicious, saying she would never have committed suicide. Police have ruled out foul play, despite the body being too decomposed to get autopsy results. KMOV has this story.

Police in Texas have arrested a suspect in connection with the shooting death of Diamond Brigman. The shooting took place more than two months ago. The Tri-City Herald has this story.

Senator Roger Marshall has introduced a bill to counter the Biden administration’s new rule which says that Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act prohibits discrimination against transgender people as discrimination on the basis of sex. This story comes from The Advocate.

The Advocate reports that Agenda PAC has identified ten anti-LGBTQ Republican members of Congress whom they are aiming to defeat in November.

The U.K. government has banned private health care providers from prescribing puberty blockers for anyone under age 18. Patients with current prescriptions for puberty blockers seem to be exempt from the ban. This story comes from PinkNews.

Karla Sofia Gascón

A right-wing blogger named Summer Bushnell is ordered to pay $1,100,000 to drag performer Eric Posey, for defamation. It seems that Ms. Bushnell accused Mr. Posey of exposing himself to a minor at a pride event two years ago. The jury found that Ms. Bushnell knew that the accusation was false. David de Alba

We reported that CNN will air a new documentary called The History of Drag  on June 2. That air date has changed to 8 pm June 9. David de Alba will be featured singing at Finocchio’s in the early 1980s.
