More than 30 gay porn actors ask for explanation after Twitter deletes their profiles

Since last Sunday (31), Twitter began to suspend the account several actors and producers of gay porn content. So far, around 30 profiles have been removed from the social network, including the producer Irmãos Dotados and actors Marcelo Debian, Hanry OnlyJapa, Ronny Aislan, Caio Rodrigues, Italo Andrade, among others.

According to Paulo Barão, producer and director of Irmãos Dotados, the actors would have received an out-of-court notification, via email, requesting the removal of content from Twitter. However, the social network did not specify which post should be removed.

“We cannot provide additional information about the process or give legal advice, but you can contact a lawyer for that purpose,” says an excerpt of the email sent via Twitter to porn actors and producers who have had their accounts suspended.

After contacting Twitter, actors and producers of porn content did not get any answers about the suspensions. To their surprise, since last Tuesday (2), all accounts that were notified via email, started to be removed from the social network.

“The accounts were taken off the air, abruptly, with no chance of readjustment, readaptation or notice […]. Twitter simply took down all accounts. For many, they are still visible, but with zero followers and following zero people, only for the owner – whoever searches will no longer find these accounts”, explained the producer and director of Irmãos Dotados.

Actor and porn content producer, Hanry OnlyJapa, had his account suspended for the third time this year alone. According to the actor, the two previous profiles were also deleted without explanation. The “taken down” account in last Tuesday (02) and created three months ago, already had more than 126,000 followers.

“I already waited a month for answers. But there is no way to go a month without working, without sharing my content, hoping that one day they will respond to me. That’s their lack of support. I had to create a new account and start all the work to grow, which takes a lot of time,”said Hanry.

In addition to the account of Brazilian porn content actors and producers, the profile of American Rhyheim Shabazz,with more than 1.3 million followers, was also suspended. The actor had several content produced with Brazilian actors on his social network. The profile of the producer Irmãos Dotados, which was also excluded, had around 535 thousand followers.

Twitter’s privacy policies

Unlike other popular social networks such as Facebook and Instagram, Twitter allows explicit pornography on its users’ profiles. Thus, the social network has become an option for those looking for adult content.

The platform’s privacy policies, updated in 2019, limit only intimate content that has been recorded in a non-consensual manner. Pornography and other forms of adult content, produced by consensus, are allowed on the platform, as long as the photo or videos are marked as “sensitive content”.

“Our goal is to limit exposure to sensitive images and videos and prevent the sharing of potentially disruptive types of sensitive media. For that reason, we’ve differentiated our approach to enforcement depending on the type of media that was shared and where it was shared,” explained Twitter in 2019, with changes to the new pornography guidelines.
