Drag Pac: BenDeLaCreme, Alaska, and Peppermint

Drag queens BenDeLaCreme, Alaska, and Peppermint have formed a new alliance called Drag PAC, and its mission is to get younger voters out to the polls to vote. The Advocate has this story.

The Biden administration’s new rules which extend the protections of the Bostock ruling to transgender students are now in effect, where they have not been blocked. The Associated Press has this story.

Two days before the new rule was to go into effect, Judge Annemarie Axon, an appointee of President Trump, issued a 129-page ruling which allowed the rule to take effect. The following day, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals issued a 129-word decision overruling Judge Axon’s decision. This story comes from Them.

Elliot Page appeared on The View, and was asked what he thought of the Republican party’s “obsession” with transgender children. Page said that he was “incredibly sad about” the legislation they are proposing, “and angry and frightened.” The Advocate has this story.

A panel of the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that a school district in Ohio may ban anti-transgender bullying. This story comes from Them.

The U.S. Senate passed the Kids Online Safety Act, but the House of Representatives has moved to table the act. An article in Them says that the legislation could return. Many worry that the legislation could be used to suppress children’s access to LGBTQ-themed information.

In Virginia, a judge has ruled that a cisgender student may sue her school district over its policy which allows transgender students to use the restroom which aligns with their gender identity. The Advocate has this story.

Broward County Public Schools has suspended a staffer whose transgender daughter played on the girls intramural volleyball team in spite of Florida’s ban on transgender athletes. This story comes from The Hill.

A transgender woman who was fired by Liberty University because of her gender identity has filed a lawsuit against the university. She is backed by the ACLU. WSET-TV has this story.

In the Olympics at Paris, boxers Imane Khelif of Algeria and Lin Yu-ting of Taiwan were allowed to compete, despite both having previously failed a “gender test.” The usual suspects have said that the two are transgender, or worse, “men.” The usual loudmouths are saying that they are transgender, and calling them “men.” The two boxers are simply cisgender women who seem to have higher levels of testosterone than most cisgender women. Rukshana Kapali

Nepal’s Supreme Court has recognized a transgender woman, Rukshana-Kapali, as a woman, and ordered her legal documents to reflect her new gender. This story comes from Them.

Out.com has a story on Differences in Sexual Development, a catch-all for intersex people and people with higher than typical levels of certain sex hormones. It is thought that the two boxers in question could be women with DSDs.

A High Court in the U.K. has upheld the ban on puberty blockers which was enacted by the Conservative government before they were removed from office in the recent election. This story comes from Them.

The British Medical Association has called for the ban on puberty blockers to be overturned. They< also criticized the Cass Report, which was relied on to implement the ban. LGBTQ Nation has this story.

A man was arrested for the attempted murder of a transgender teenager in Liverpool. The victim, who was stabbed, is reported to be in stable condition. This story comes from PinkNews.

A new law in Mexico City permits judges to sentence killers of transgender people to up to 70 years in prison. PinkNews has this story.

An Ontario trans woman has lost her legal fight to get the province’s health plan to cover the cost of her facial feminization surgery, according to the National Post.

Leah Shipps

LGBTQ Nation has the story of a rural county in Maine where the school board repealed their protections for transgender students. The voters of the town responded by electing write-in candidate Leah Shipps, a transgender woman and a parent with two children in the school district.

Donald Trump and J.D. Vance are voicing many objections to Kamala Harris and her public supporters labeling them as “weird.” (Often, the label is not aimed directly at them, but at something that they say or do.) Samantha Allen suggests in that if they cannot handle being called “weird,” they should stop labeling transgender people as “weird.”

The candidacy of Kamala Harris has made LGBTQ groups feel “re-energized,” according to The Advocate.

Slate reports that Kamala Harris has a reputation as a long-standing ally of transgender people, taking up our political fight at a time when other politicians were afraid to fight for our rights..
