Australian firefighters’ 2022 calendar has photos released

In keeping with the annual tradition, the 2022 edition of the Australian Firefighters Calendar is released and those interested in purchasing them can simply visit the project’s official page.

For the first time in 29 years of existence, there are pictures of firefighters having fun on some of Australia’s most iconic beaches. The cover of the calendar is Matt Haydon, considered the most “fitness” among firefighters. In addition, the 2022 edition has new faces, including Ben Church, who hails from Western Australia and Ricky Smith, from Brisbane.

This time, the proceeds will support several charities, including several that care for wild animals, as well as a children’s cancer hospital.

Last year, the money raised went to various organizations that care for animals that have been hit by wildfires in Australia, whether it’s recovering them from their injuries or giving them a new home.

“No one has been apathetic to see our precious wildlife trying to escape the wildfires”– says initiative director David Rogers – “and the loss of wildlife is beyond our comprehension. Everyone involved in the Australian Firefighters Calendar has decided that all our efforts need to be focused on Australian wildlife” – he adds.

Australian firefighters calendars have been in existence since 1993 and to date they have raised around 3.2 million Australian dollars.

Funding from the 2020 edition helped buy equipment and supplies for volunteers working at the Currimbin Wildlife Veterinary Hospital, which primarily serves animals such as koalas, kangaroos, birds and wombats (a species of marsupial).

Each of the calendars costs, on average, 20 Australian dollars. In addition to these, thematic pillowcases, welcome cards, among others are also sold. There are also editions with photos only of the animals, without the firefighters.
