In the latest episode of the “Não Pod! Pod Sim!” podcast, which aired on September 19th, digital influencer Guigo Kieras invited 34-year-old Bruno Sartori from Minas Gerais to be the guest of the week.
A native of Iturama, Minas Gerais, Sartori became known on social media for creating humorous videos using deepfake technology, a manipulation technique that utilizes artificial intelligence to alter existing media, resulting in a sort of “parody”. A highly popular example of this technique occurred in June when the car manufacturer Volkswagen used AI to insert the face of Elis Regina into an advertising campaign alongside her daughter Maria Rita.
On the web, Bruno Sartori gained popularity by manipulating scenes from classic soap operas and TV shows, such as Tieta, Chaves, and Chapolin Colorado, to satirize politicians, especially using the images of Jair Bolsonaro and Lula.
Considering that the image manipulations of the mentioned political figures would lead to various attacks from partisan internet users, presenter Guigo Kieras asked the guest how he has been reacting to hate messages on social media.
Sartori mentioned that he has been using legal means to address these issues, particularly the attacks related to his sexual orientation.
“There was a time when I portrayed Bolsonaro as Tiririca singing ‘Cloroquina, cloroquina…’” Cloroquina tem no SUS’, that the attacks intensified. And they came in a disproportionate manner. And I thought: ‘I’m not going to keep taking these attacks [in vain]. So I reached out to a friend, and we took legal action. We requested to identify the individuals [que fizeram ataques via redes sociais] and all of them were sued. Two or three individuals have already been convicted, and I received the money with great joy. One of them [indenizações] it happened on my birthday, so I went to Europe to celebrate”, said Bruno Sartori
“I didn’t deserve these attacks”, continued the videomaker. I made sure to spend the money and show that I was spending it, to demonstrate [aos haters] what they are ‘sponsoring’. I went to Europe and stayed for twenty days. At the gay party circuit, still… I made a point to show that I was at a gay party. They sponsored an orgy in Mykonos… With money from Bolsonaro supporters. Delicious!”, Sartori reminisced.
In the same episode of the podcast, besides reminiscing about the early days of artificial intelligence, Bruno also talks about the writer Paulo Coelho, his work with the characters from “Castelo Rá-Tim-Bum”, the Volkswagen advertising campaign with Elis Regina, and a variety of random topics.
With executive production by Kássio Sousa, the videocast “Não Pod! Pod Sim!” features a different guest in each episode. The show airs on YouTube every Tuesday at 5:30 PM on the “Fora da Casinha” channel.
