TWIT Awards – Sept 16, 2024
As we mentioned last week, Former President Donald Trump has made strange claims that schools or educators are deciding which students will get gender-confirmation surgery. Of course, this is not really happening–but the lack of reality does not matter to his base. Matt Gaetz appears to have repeated the line in the spin room, while trying to make an argument that the former president won the debate with Kamala Harris. The topic of transgender children did not come up at the debate. When asked a follow-up, Mr. Gaetz changed the subject to parents’ rights to be informed about their children at school. For backing up the former president in a fabrication, Matt Gaetz gets a TWIT. The Advocate has this story.
Meanwhile, Erin Reed reports that Tiffany Justice, a founder of Moms For Liberty, admitted that the allegations by the former president are false, but said that she is “thankful to President Trump” for his role in making the false claims. She said, “It grabbed your attention and we’re talking about it now, and that makes me very happy.” For being happy that the former president is repeating a fabrication which has no grounding in reality, Tiffany Justice gets a TWIT.
Former President Donald Trump has said that he is going to keep anti-transgender claims in his rallies, because they get the big applause. He says that likes about keeping “critical race theory and transgender insanity” out of schools and keeping “men out of women’s sports” are big applause lines, even though they are based on things that do not happen. For applauding so much at lines what are based on things which are not happening, the audience at Former President Trump’s rallies get a TWIT. LGBTQ Nation has this story.
Others seem to be adopting the strategy as well. U.S. Representative Chip Roy (R-TX) said in the middle of a September 11 speech that the U.S. no longer deserves to be defended, because his friend’s child has a music teacher who is transgender.
