The LGBTQ content on the channel features two original productions, one of which is Candis Caynes’ Secret Garden. That’s right, the trans woman who was the first trans actress to play a recurring role in a prime time series (Dirty Sexy Money) has become the transgender community’s Martha Stewart. How long will it be before Candis is doing ads for mulch? The show invites viewers to enter Candis’s backyard garden which is said to be “a blend of beauty, healing, camp, and kindness.” You can watch season one of the show on the Secret Garden website.
Nicole Maines, the first transgender actor to portray a superhero appearing as Dreamer (aka Nia Nal) on Supergirl, and is currently a regular on Yellowjackets, has signed with a new management agency. Congrats to Ms. Maine and hopefully her new representation will lead to her fans seeing more of her in upcoming film and TV projects. Learn more from Deadline.
From Broadway World we learn that “Transgender artist and activist, Ry Armstrong (they/them), has been elected to serve as a Western Principal Councilor of Actors’ Equity Association on its National Council. Equity is a labor union representing over 51,000 professional actors and stage managers nationwide, fighting for fair wages, access to healthcare, pension opportunities, and a safe working environment.”

Ballroom dancer Venus Extravaganza who appeared in Paris is Burning was found strangled to death in a hotel room. Her murder is the subject of a documentary film titled I’m Your Venus. It premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in June. The film tells the story using footage from Paris is Burning along with interviews with Venus’s families both her adopted family and her biological family. The second season of The Sandman is currently in production. We have learned that Pose actress Indya Moore will play Wanda, “a professional driver and security agent for an exclusive travel firm who will prove very important during an ‘Endless road trip to the waking world.’”
