Last week, we announced that the Supreme Court set the date for hearing the case opposing Tennessee’s ban on gender affirming medical care for minors. When that case is heard on December 4, Case Strangio of the ACLU will become the first openly transgender attorney to argue a case before the Supreme Court. Reuters has this story.

In an interview with Hallie Jackson of NBC News, Vice President Kamala Harris expressed her belief that gender-affirming medical care should be up to a patient and that patient’s doctor, with parents having a say in whether or not their child may receive gender-affirming medical care. A new survey from Data For Progress shows that voters are fed up with anti-transgender ads, and that few voters are motivated by them. But, are voters negatively motivated by them? A school district in Oregon has asked Senator Ted Cruz to stop showing two ads which oppose transgender athletes. The ads include pictures of cisgender athletes, whose families did not agree to their daughters appearing in the ads. This story comes from The Hill.

The city of Odessa, Texas, has passed a bathroom bill. People are required to use the restroom associated with their “biological gender.” The Texas Tribune has this story.

Mel Manuel, a non-binary person and a candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Louisiana, injected testosterone during the filming of a commercial. This story comes from Them.

A new survey released in the Journal of the American Medical Association looed at how those who began gender-affirming medical care as teenagers were doing after 6 to 10 years. Only 3% had discontinued gender-affirming medical care, and most were very satisfied with their care. Erin Reed has this story.

A study sponsored by The Trevor Project found that intersex youth have more anxiety, depression, and thoughts of suicide than their cisgender peers. The lead author of the study tells that unnecessary surgeries may be part of the cause.

An investigation shows that more that 200 trans people in the U.K. were denied hormone replacement therapy by their GPs in the past year. We mentioned above that Republicans, including Former President Donald Trump, are using opposition to transgender rights in campaign commercials. A group called GRACE is offering a counterpoint, specifically from a conservative combat veteran who recorded a message about his unconditional love for his transgender daughter. Someone hacked the electric sign outside a McDonald’s restaurant, and made it read, “Jesus says Trans Rights.” The manager of the McDonald’s restaurant tells My Journal Courier that they are working to make the sign more difficult to hack.

Debi Jackson has a reputation for supporting her non-binary child, Avery Jackson. She moved the family from Missouri to somewhere where the political atmosphere was less hostile to transgender children. Within 24 hours of moving into their new house, Avery noticed that the house was haunted. The rest of the family has noticed it as well. Debi tells The 19th about the haunted house, but adds, “I feel like living in Missouri is probably way scarier.”
