Judge Royce Lamberth of the U.S. District of Washington, D.C., has blocked President Trump’s order to house transgender prisoners according to the sex assigned at birth. A temporary restraining order had been issued by another federal judge on January 30. The Advocate has this story.

The Pentagon filed a memorandum in court on Wednesday, telling how they plan to implement President Trump’s executive order banning transgender people from the military. The memo indicates that the military will identify all members of the armed services who have “a current diagnosis or history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria,” and will take steps to terminate them. In President Trump’s first term, the courts allowed President Trump’s ban on transgender people in the military only after the military had included exemptions for those who were already serving and who had a diagnosis of gender dysphoria.
