The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), taking place in New York on September 11, will feature a series of standout performances, including Brazilian artist Anitta, Karol G, LL Cool J, and Shawn Mendes. The event will be hosted by Megan Thee Stallion and broadcast live to over 150 countries from the UBS Arena.
Anitta, known for her hit “Girl From Rio“, will perform at the VMA for the third consecutive year, this time with a medley of the songs “Savage Funk” and “Alegria”, along with the world premiere of “Paradise”. The performance will feature special guests Fat Joe, DJ Khaled, and Tiago PZK. The artist is competing for her third consecutive win in the “Best Latin Video” category.
Other Performances
In addition to Anitta, Karol G, a five-time Latin Grammy and Grammy Award winner, is set to captivate the audience once again with her return to the MTV stage. Last year, she made her VMA debut and took home the “Best Collaboration” award alongside Shakira. This year, she is once again competing in the “Best Latin Video” category.
LL Cool J, a hip-hop legend and the 1997 Video Vanguard Award winner, will return to the VMA stage to perform songs from his new album, THE FORCE. The rapper was the first hip-hop artist to sell over a million copies across ten consecutive albums.
Shawn Mendes, known for hits like “Señorita” and “In My Blood“, will perform tracks from his fifth album, the self-titled Shawn. The singer has already won two VMA awards and delivered several memorable performances at the event.
On the night, Katy Perry will receive the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and perform a medley of her greatest hits. In addition, artists such as Benson Boone, Camila Cabello, and Halsey are also confirmed to perform.
The voting is still open
Fans can vote for their favorite artists in 15 categories until August 30. Voting for the Best New Artist category will remain open until the day of the show. This year’s awards will also mark the 23rd anniversary of the September 11 attacks, and MTV will support initiatives such as the National Day of Service and Remembrance and Tuesday’s Children.
