Madonna is set to be officially recognized as a Carioca. City councilor César Maia (PSD-RJ) proposed a legislative decree for this purpose, which will soon be submitted for a vote in the Rio de Janeiro City Council. The information comes from Folha de S.Paulo.
If the project is approved, Madonna will be awarded the honorary title of Carioca Citizen.
