Christian Chávez, 41, the singer and actor best known for his contributions to RBD and his advocacy for humanitarian causes, shared a video on Monday, the 27th, in honor of the eighth anniversary of Casa 1. The institution, located in São Paulo, aims to provide shelter for LGBTQIA+ youth between the ages of 18 and 25 who have been kicked out of their homes because of their sexual orientation or gender identity.

In the video, Christian shared his own experience as an openly gay man, highlighting the role of the Brazilian audience in his journey of acceptance and struggle. “Since coming out as gay, I have always received support and acceptance from my Brazilian fans. This experience deeply connected me with the struggle of the LGBTQ+ community in Brazil, and it inspired me to find ways to support and represent our community. It is essential that we have a voice and space, especially in times of vulnerability.”

“Casa 1 does an incredible job that aligns with my desire to help our community. They not only offer shelter but also empower people through various initiatives”, stated Christian.

Finally, the artist made an appeal for donations, emphasizing that the continuation of Casa 1’s services depends on public support. “Together, we can make a difference in the lives of so many people! Thank you so much for being with me today. Let’s work together to build a more welcoming world!”

Casa 1, founded by Iran Giusti, is a cultural and support center dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community in São Paulo. In addition to offering temporary shelter to youth who have been kicked out of their homes, the institution promotes cultural and educational activities, such as the “Lesbian Visibility Week“. The NGO also provides virtual mental health support through its Social Clinic for the LGBTQ+ community. The continuation of these initiatives relies on donations and ongoing support from society.
