Bolsonaro’s brother becomes a defendant in homophobia case and threatens a young man

This month, the former president’s older brother Jair Bolsonaro, Angelo Guido Bolsonaro, was reported by the Public Ministry of São Paulo, becoming a defendant in a case involving accusations of homophobia and threats against a teenager who, at the time, worked in a supermarket in the State of São Paulo. The information was published by Folha de S. Paulo.

Understand the case

As reported by Folha, the incident occurred in 2023, in the city of Eldorado, located in the interior of São Paulo. According to the statement given to the police by Alex de Oliveira, who was 17 years old at the time, when he “patted” a co-worker on the shoulder, Angelo, also known as Guido, approached her and began to insult him. :

“Did he hit you? In addition to wearing earrings, he’s definitely a fagot and anything we say is considered racism.”. The colleague in question confirmed the report to the police during interrogation.

After a few weeks, Guido returned to the supermarket and pushed a shopping cart towards Alex, starting an argument. Soon after, Angelo would have called the boy to resolve the situation outside, “to the punch”.

Judicial settlement

In November 2023, Angelo appeared at the Civil Police to give a statement, in which he stated that there had been a misunderstanding. He acknowledged that an argument had occurred but denied having used biased words when referring to the young man.

Folha de São Paulo reported that in January of this year, the Public Prosecutor’s Office formalized a complaint against Angelo Guido, attributing to him accusations of homophobic offenses and threats, but did not take into account accusations of racial insult.

According to the press vehicle, three other supermarket employees confirmed Angelo’s statements.
